As the studio director for art & kustom kreations® Christopher Garcia is passionate about instilling creativity in his students and promoting the studio’s vision to inspire, create, and love. Born and raised in Houston, TX, his artistic process began as young a child. He later expanded his skill set when he was accepted into the Houston School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), a high school dedicated to the arts. Garcia continues his passion for art and learning as a student at the University of Houston Clear Lake earning his BFA.
A Houston contemporary artist, he typically works in oil and acrylic media. Vibrant colors, contrasting shapes, and bold compositions characterize Garcia’s paintings. His primary source of subject matter inspiration comes from the city of Houston and Garcia’s personal experiences within the city, which has suitably seeped into the mural projects he has completed in several area schools and businesses. His works have been displayed in several area locations as well juried shows, including the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. Aside from regular large scale mural projects, Garcia’s most recent Pearland community endeavor was the completion of a large pear statue for the Pearland PearScape project. The sponsor was Pearland Medical Center; however, the actual location of the pear is yet to be determined. Recent and current Houston area projects include Global Graduate murals for several schools on Houston’s East End. Garcia is the studio director at an art studio and boutique gallery, art & kustom kreations®, located in Pearland, TX. He resides in Houston, TX with his wife and children.
My artwork reflects upon my life and current surroundings. I use detailed imagery to define a series of events or current train of thought at the moment. The city in which I live, Houston, TX, has a big influence on my work; whereas downtown imagery has been a focal point for several series of paintings. I am currently exploring the aquatic life series of paintings using acrylic medium and working on large scale mural projects both in and outdoors. I live by the thought that life is one huge canvas. I believe can create inspirational masterpieces, one brush stroke at a time.
